J takes style seeker Colleen on a journey through her closet to identify several ways she can improve what she already owns. They go shopping at local boutique Stella Luca to find new pieces to add to Colleen’s closet, based on J’s suggestions during the first part of the show. Finally, J develops new outfits utilizing the items they picked up, and ultimately helping Colleen with 3 areas of fashion improvement by the end of the show!

Season 1. Episode 3 – “Erica”

Erica is a young, married professional with a busy lifestyle. She works from home for an advertising agency and has meetings around town, co-authors the blog Amplified Culture, and is a yoga enthusiast. She had a $400 budget to overhaul her closet, and in July we worked on adding skirts (an item she had previously sworn off), and sizzle pieces like statement jewelry and fun prints. You’ll see more than 20 outfits in the episode, which is just the tip of the iceberg to how many new looks she was able to create using new items combined with what she already had.

You may also notice the new format of the show! (Our purpose in producing these episodes is to try something new each time.) Huge props to my producer and editor on this one, they did an awesome job giving it a fun vibe. I also have to give Annette at InStyle Hair in Baldwin Park a shout-out – my hair looked better than ever. Transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Fall doesn’t mean you have to buy all new stuff. You can update your look by adding a few pieces.

Military Jackets

J from J’s Everyday Fashion says you should start with a military jacket. “The military trend is huge for fall 2012, so if you haven’t picked up a military jacket yet, now is the time! They look great with anything from a lace dress to jeans and a t-shirt.”

Cropped Pants

Another trend for Fall is the cropped pant. “Cropped pants are huge for fall, and the good news is that this is a trend you can wear to work,” says J. “Try this style of pant in a black or camel color if you work in a conservative office, or try a printed pant with a burgundy blouse for a fun look. ” J says “Bordeaux” is a hot color for this season.

Style seeker Lauren is a busy mom of two, who recently lost her baby weight and needs comfortable yet sophisticated outfits for her active lifestyle. J takes Lauren on a style journey to identify how Lauren can use what she already owns, and get the most out of her $1,000 one-time budget.
