McCree General Contractors Inc. started construction on an $18 million-$20 million addition to the 42-acre Winter Park Towers retirement community on South Lakemont Drive.
The Winter Park Towers, which is part of Presbyterian Retirement Communities, is adding on Loch Berry, a five-story, 90,000-square-foot residential complex. Orlando-based McCree is the site contractor, general contractor for the new 54-unit apartment building and construction manager for the related 382-space parking garage.
Winter Park-based Fugleberg Koch Architects Inc. was the designer on the project, while Apopka-based Finfrock Design-Manufacture-Construct Inc. is the contractor on the parking complex.
The project, which has been in the works since 2009, is slated for a November 2012 completion and will create about 250 construction jobs.
The existing community includes 365 apartments, villas and single-family homes, plus a 120-bed nursing home and 54-bed assisted-living facility.
