Orlando students get to cook in Planet Hollywood kitchen

A group of local students who completed a six-week health course are getting a chance to prepare healthy meals tomorrow afternoon in the Planet Hollywood kitchen in Lake Buena Vista. The students, led by Planet Hollywood Executive Sous Chef Christin Butler, will be preparing a healthy dinner for family and friends and will meet Orlando Magic representatives, as well. The dinner is a capstone to the new “Healthy Me” course offered by the Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families, an advocacy and outreach arm of the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

The free class taught Orlando students about health, nutrition and exerciser through interaction with to doctors, dietitians, trainers, mental health specialists and other healthcare professionals. The course also included healthy cooking classes, Zumba lessons and handouts on diet and exercise.

Twenty students are expected to cook tomorrow. A total of 77 students from from Jones High School, Evans High School, Memorial Middle School, and Bridge to Independence Private School took the class. Healthy Me will be offered again as an after-school program.
