Florida Rep. Wins In Outstanding Teen Pageant

Elizabeth Fechtel, of Leesburg, Fla., was crowned Saturday night as the 2012 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. Pageant officials said that Fechtel will start senior year at First Academy-Leesburg as the student body president. She is also the editor of the school yearbook and the treasurer of the debate club. Fechtel competed against 52 other state representatives in the pageant.
According to MAOT, the pageant (which is considered as the Miss America Pageant’s “little sister”) offers accomplished teens the chance to be awarded more than $300,000 worth of college scholarships.
