Blossoming band rocks out in downtown Orlando

Street performances are a cornerstone to how a city gets its artistic culture, and in Orlando it is no different. The duo of David Lewis and Gaza Muntan are just two of the people who have made a name for themselves playing on Orlando’s street corners. Lewis and Muntan stood on the sidewalk playing a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar.” Their audience was anyone within earshot walking along Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando. Lewis, 56, and Muntan, 57, are known as the Downtown Florist Band, a guitar duo that sets up two speakers and a pair of microphones and rocks out on the sidewalk near a flower shop. For almost four months, the men have performed every Tuesday and Thursday outside a Downtown Florist & Wedding Shop, playing a five-hour set of classic hits ranging from Chuck Berrys “Johnny B. Goode” to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
