Senator Bill Nelson (D-Florida) spoke highly of NASA’s future as he laid out a plan that will cause the Space Exploration Organization to be very involved in the future endeavors. Sen. Nelson’s plan included the following points:
•Evolution of KSC as a multiuse spaceport, supporting both NASA and private launches of various kinds.
•Development of a still-unannounced, partially funded heavy-lift rocket to take astronauts to still-undetermined places beyond Earth’s orbit. NASA is expected to announce a decision on a rocket design next week.
•Increasing space and aeronautics research and development activity and space-vehicle construction at Cape Canaveral.
Only time will tell if these initiatives will cause NASA to restore its former glory.
