Woman injured following a dog attack

Lake Wales, Florida Police announced that a central Florida woman was seriosuly injured after two dogs attacked her while she was taking her smaller dog out for a walk. Police say the attack on 46-year-old Tammy Little occurred Monday morning on a lakeside walking path. Luckily, passersby saw the attack and worked quickly to get the dogs away from her. The attacking dogs were described as mixed-breed pit bulls. Shortly after the attack, Little was taken by helicopter to a Lakeland hospital. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Polk County animal control took the two larger dogs into custody. They had previously been roaming free. The owners were cited, but no criminal charges have been filed. It is still not known how the dogs got out of their yard.
