In Florida, the Volusia County Grand Jury decided to indict Joseph Matassa for first degree murder after he allegedly stabbed a Port Orange woman to death. Matassa, 59,was arrested on March 22, a little over a month after Pamela Corte, his ex girlfriend was found stabbed to death inside her Port Orange home on Nixon Lane. Sadly, a family member discovered the body of the 55 year old Corte. Detectives said Matassa was Corte’s boyfriend of 20 years and also lived at the same residence. The alleged murder was not on the only trouble Matassa found that day. Earlier, he was treated at a hospital after Florida Highway Patrol troopers said he led them on a “wild chase” in Jacksonville, where he struck an SUV before crashing into a ditch. Matassa is currently being held at a Duval County Pre–Trial Detention facility.
