Urgent text system coming to Marion County
February 11, 2011, 8:36 am
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is urging cell phone and smart phone users to add the urgent text message system number 352-351-9111 to their phone directories. “in an emergency, call 911,” sheriff’s spokesman Judge Cochran to the Ocala Star-Banner, but “if you cannot dial 911 and speak, you can text an urgent message.” This idea is relatively new and is a fantastic way to keep up with today’s technology boom. There are many situations where people in distress need to call in an emergency but are unable to speak.
