In a meeting of two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Heat withstood a furious rally from the Magic to hold on to the win by the score of 104-100. The Heat were led by reigning MVP LeBron James who scored 51 points, which is the highest output by any player in the league this year. “Just playing this team got me going,” said James who also compiled 11 rebounds and 8 assists in the victory. “We understand that this wasn’t just any regular game. There was a lot of things said about us in the offseason that came from this organization. So, we just wanted to come in here and play to our abilities and make a statement.” ¬†At one point the Magic trailed by 23 points but were able to cut the lead to 3 with just 10 seconds left. Ryan Anderson’s three-point attempt would not fall at which point Miami was able to ice the game with free throws. Orlando dropped to 31-19 and currently sit 4.5 games behind the Miami Heat in the Southeast division.
