Is your TV super enough for the Super Bowl?

February 4, 2011, 8:50 am

As we all know, this Sunday is the Super Bowl and arguably the most important TV viewing day of the year. Conveniently, this is also the best time to buy a brand new flat screen television. At local Best Buys they have up to 40 percent off LCDTVs, while Sears are offering 50 inch Panasonic and Zenith plasma TVs for ¬†just $600. These deals are going on because there are more advertised TVs left over from Christmas that never sold.¬†“This year, they had so many of them because retailers didn’t want to advertise them and not have them,” says consumer expert Brit Beemer, “so this year you have a lot of promotional TV sets out there. ” The reason for the lack of sales is that 70 percent of households already have flat screen TVs and therefore have no need to go out and buy a new one. Retailers have to sell them by April, because May is when they get their new shipments.
