Florida man pleads no contest to manslaughter

Jesus Lara, a Central Florida man has decided to plead no contest to manslaughter for killing another man in a fight. As part of the plea deal with Brevard County prosecutors, the 44 year old Lara entered his plea last week. He had been scheduled to stand trial for second degree murder, and will likely be sentenced to 15 years during his April hearing. Lara was charged with the murder of Joel Cruz in January of 2010 after the two got into to a fight in Melbourne. The police were called and they found Cruz lying in the street, he then later died at a nearby hospital. Although Lara maintains that he is innocent, he is taking the deal because he feels it is in his best interest.
