Authorities have reported that a 16 year old boy will be charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of police officer David Crawford from St. Petersberg. Crawford was shot and killed Monday night while investigating a reported prowler in a neighborhood found south of Tropicana Field , the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. He was shot multiple times at very close range and is the third St. Petersburg police officer killed in the line of duty in the past month. Police Chief Chuck Harmon said that the 16 year old is currently in custody and has admitted to what occurred. It will be up to prosecutors whether to charge the teen as an adult or a juvenile.
